Summit Hotels & Resorts has officially entered the retreat hotel segment in Sikkim with the launch of Summit Signature Retreat Pangthang in Gangtok. Perched on a hilltop amid pine plantations, the 38-room property offers breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Eastern Himalayas, including Mount Kanchenjunga. Designed for travelers seeking seclusion and wellness, the retreat marks a strategic expansion of Summit’s “destination-led” mountain hospitality in the Northeast.

Property Highlights & Guest Experience

The retreat is built to offer a slower, more immersive travel experience, balancing nature with modern comfort.

  • Accommodations: 38 rooms and suites across five categories, including Superior Rooms, Attic Suites, and Luxury Suites. Every room features a private balcony to maximize the Himalayan views.

  • Sustainability & Local Context: In line with regional climate and eco-conscious efforts, rooms are intentionally designed without air conditioning or minibars.

  • Wellness & Rejuvenation: Wellness is a central pillar, featuring a dedicated spa, yoga decks, and meditation spaces tailored for rest and escape.

  • Culinary & Leisure: The on-site restaurant serves Sikkimese, Indian, and International cuisines, complemented by a sun deck overlooking the mountain ranges.

  • MICE & Events: A massive 5,000 sq ft banquet hall capable of hosting over 500 guests makes it a premier choice for destination weddings and corporate retreats in Gangtok.

Sumit Mitruka, Founder & Managing Director, Summit Hotels & Resorts: “The region is seeing growing interest from travellers seeking deeper engagement with nature. Summit Signature Retreat Pangthang reflects our evolving approach to destination-led hospitality, where wellness, environment, and local context come together subtly.”
