Minimalist Hotels Enters Udaipur with Heritage Boutique Property to mark its official operational debut within Rajasthan’s highly competitive luxury and leisure tourism corridor. Scheduled to open its doors to domestic and international travelers by the end of May 2026, the newly launched asset is strategically named Minimalist – Lake Pichola Edit. Located on Bhimparmeshwar Marg, the intimate property represents a significant milestone in the boutique hospitality group’s broader corporate strategy to scale its presence across India’s most storied historical and cultural destinations.
Restoring the Legacy of the Historic Mardana Haveli
The design-led retreat is housed within the historic Bawlas ki Haveli, a landmark structure dating back to 1820 that was originally gifted to a Rajput noble associated with the royal court of Mewar. Historically utilized as a venue for hosting distinguished guests during the princely era, the property’s architectural layout mirrors the unique social customs of old Udaipur. The specific wing of the estate transformed into the boutique hotel was known as the Mardana Haveli—a designated sanctuary traditionally reserved for male guests during a period when the purdah system strictly dictated architectural boundaries and social movements.
Minimalist Hotels has carefully adapted and restored the structure to accommodate contemporary luxury requirements while making a deliberate effort to preserve the core elements of its original royal identity. The property retains its classic, earthy Rajasthani character, seamlessly integrating its historic terracotta walls, intricate jharokhas (hanging balconies), and rich heritage detailing with clean, modern hospitality aesthetics. This adaptive reuse strategy allows the brand to capture the growing “slow travel” market segment composed of modern travelers seeking culturally connected and structurally authentic accommodations.
Intimate Luxury Accommodations and Rooftop Dining
To maintain a private, low-density sanctuary environment for its guests, the boutique haveli features a curated inventory of 18 keys. The room selections are organized across distinct upscale categories tailored to couples, design enthusiasts, and heritage travelers, featuring:
The Maharaja Suite and Maharani Suite: Ultra-premium, spacious accommodations that offer elevated style elements paying homage to old-world regality.
Superior King and Superior Twin Rooms: High-functionality guest rooms built with a focus on simplicity, premium comfort, and understated luxury.
To complement its stay experience, the property will officially unveil Cabami, a specialized rooftop restaurant and bar concept. Positioned directly above the bustling local streets, the rooftop venue provides guests and city visitors with panoramic, uninterrupted views of the Lake Pichola waters and the glittering Udaipur skyline, functioning as an energetic evening social space for global cocktail culture and regional culinary flavors.

Commenting on the territorial launch, Gautam Munjal, Founder and CEO of Minimalist Hotels, expressed that the timeless cultural charm of the city served as a perfect canvas for their hospitality vision. He emphasized that the development team aimed to craft an immersive experience that feels deeply intertwined with the historic soul of the neighborhood while staying firmly rooted in the brand’s signature design philosophy of meaningful minimalism and simplicity. The strategic opening comes as independent boutique properties increasingly outperform massive generic hotel chains by delivering highly personalized services and locally anchored experiences directly inside premium heritage real estate circuits.
