Erode Amman Mess (EAM), the Tamil Nadu-origin restaurant brand built around the culinary traditions of the Kongu Nadu region, has opened its first outlet in Bengaluru — marking the brand’s entry into the domestic expansion market after nearly a decade of building an international footprint.
The Bengaluru outlet is the 15th location in the EAM network, which currently operates 14 outlets across international markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka, and Qatar, with units in Abu Dhabi, Johor Bahru, Melbourne, and Sydney reported to be in the pipeline. Until now, EAM had no presence within India outside its home base in Erode, Tamil Nadu. The outlet is located in 6/5-7, ITPL Main Rd, Kundalahalli, Brookefield, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560066.
“Kongu cuisine has always had a loyal following, but we believed it deserved a much larger platform. Bengaluru gives us an opportunity to introduce our food, our culture, and our hospitality to a diverse audience that appreciates the real thing.”, said Prabhu, Chef & Founder, Erode Amman Mess
From Mess to Movement

Founded by Chef Prabhu with a focus on preserving regional food traditions, EAM has positioned itself around strict sourcing standards and adherence to traditional Kongu Nadu recipes — a cuisine characterised by its use of indigenous spices, slow-cooking techniques, and minimal concession to commercial adaptation. The brand operates on a mess-style format: no-frills in presentation, exacting in preparation.
Over the years, EAM has served a range of high-profile guests, including former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu, Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Sri Lanka Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and former Malaysian Prime Ministers Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Muhyiddin Yassin. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni are also among the brand’s noted patrons. The brand has received the Culinary Culture Award in both 2024 and 2025.
Why Bengaluru?
The choice of Bengaluru as EAM’s first domestic expansion point reflects both market logic and demographic opportunity. The city has a substantial Tamil-speaking population — one of the largest outside Tamil Nadu — along with a well-established appetite for regional cuisine among its broader cosmopolitan base. For EAM, the city offers a receptive first audience that is both familiar with Kongu food and large enough to sustain a full-scale outlet.
The brand has indicated that the Bengaluru opening is the first step of a wider pan-India rollout, though no further city announcements have been made at the time of launch. EAM’s international units reportedly maintain the same sourcing and recipe standards as the home outlets, and the brand says that approach will hold for its India expansion as well.
