Homegrown TVS Electronics, a leading Indian company specializing in manufacturing and providing a wide range of electronic products and solutions is all set to disrupt the HoReCa sector injecting more innovation into the existing solution. Known for its innovation, the company offers products such as printers, point-of-sale systems, and electronic components, serving various industries with reliable, high-quality technology solutions for hotels and restaurants. In an exclusive interview with Kitchen Herald N. Balasubramanian, General Manager – Channel Sales, TVS Electronics discusses the impressive product range the company is offering, their many product innovations, key partnership with Intel, and immediate global expansion plans including South East Asia to make an impact on the global stage.

The excerpts from the chat are given here:

Kitchen Herald: Can you describe your current product range and how it caters to different market needs, particularly within the HoReCa sector?

Balasubramanian:

TVS Electronics provides a diverse range of products designed to meet the varying operational needs of businesses within the Hotels, Restaurants, and Catering (HoReCa) sector.

Our offerings include:

• Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems – Designed for high-traffic environments, our Touch POS systems (e.g., TP 415c Expert) provide intuitive interfaces, seamless integration with billing software, and robust performance to handle quick transactions in fast-paced restaurant and hotel settings.

• Thermal Receipt Printers – Essential for restaurants and quick-service outlets, our high-speed receipt printers ensure fast and efficient billing, reducing customer wait times and improving service quality.

• Barcode Scanners & Label Printers – Inventory management is a major challenge in HoReCa. Our barcode scanners and label printers help businesses track stock, prevent wastage, and maintain accurate records, which is crucial for both large-scale hotel chains and small cafés.

• Cash Drawers & E-Cash Registers – Secure and efficient cash handling is key for hotels and restaurants. Our cash drawers and registers provide safe cash storage and quick transaction processing, helping businesses maintain efficiency in high-volume operations.

• Mobile Printers – Catering businesses and food trucks require on-the-go billing solutions. Our mobile receipt printers allow staff to generate invoices and receipts instantly, improving customer service and operational flexibility.

Catering to Different Market Needs:

1. Hotels: Require comprehensive billing and inventory solutions. Our integrated POS systems and barcode scanners help streamline billing at restaurants, manage guest checkouts, and track room service orders efficiently.

2. Fine Dining & Casual Restaurants: Need fast and accurate billing to manage peak hours. Our high-speed receipt printers and POS systems ensure seamless order processing and quick payments.

3. Quick-Service Restaurants (QSRs) & Cafés: Require compact and efficient devices to handle rapid customer turnover. Our mobile POS and receipt printers help speed up transactions.

By offering a flexible and scalable product lineup, TVS Electronics ensures that every segment of the HoReCa industry—whether a large hotel chain, a small café, or a catering business—can find the right technology solutions to improve operations, enhance customer experience, and drive business growth.

Kitchen Herlad: What are the key features or innovations in your product offerings that differentiate you from competitors in the industry?

Balasubramanian:  Our key differentiator is the Comprehensive Retail (CORE) Solution, which integrates multiple components—POS hardware, billing software, and payment solutions—into a single ecosystem. Additionally, our POS systems feature user-friendly interfaces, durable build quality, and compatibility with modern business applications. Our thermal printers offer high-speed printing with minimal maintenance, and our barcode solutions improve inventory accuracy. These innovations ensure that businesses in the HoReCa sector can operate with higher efficiency and lower downtime.

Kitchen Herald: How do your solutions specifically address the operational challenges hotels, restaurants, and catering businesses face?

Balasubramanian:

We address key operational challenges in the HoReCa sector by providing:

• Faster Billing & Checkout: Our thermal receipt printers and POS systems enable quick transactions, reducing customer wait times.

• Improved Inventory Management: Barcode scanners and label printers help maintain accurate stock records, preventing overstocking or shortages.

• Space Optimization: Our compact, mobile-friendly solutions allow easy placement, even in space-constrained environments.• Seamless Integration: Our devices are compatible with various ERP and billing software, ensuring smooth operations without major infrastructure changes.

Kitchen Herald: Are there any products in your range that have been particularly well-received by the HoReCa segment? If so, what makes them stand out?

Balasubramanian:

Yes, our thermal receipt printers have been particularly well-received in the HoReCa sector and hold the #1 market share in India. These printers have become a preferred choice for hotels, restaurants, and catering businesses due to their speed, reliability, and cost efficiency.

What Makes Them Stand Out?

• High-Speed Printing: Our receipt printers ensure quick and seamless billing, which is essential for handling peak-hour traffic in restaurants and quick-service outlets.

• Durability & Low Maintenance: Built for high-usage environments, they offer long-lasting performance with minimal downtime, a critical factor for hospitality businesses.

• Compact & Space-Saving Design: Designed for crowded counters and kitchen setups, these printers fit effortlessly in various HoReCa settings.

• Seamless Integration: They are compatible with major POS and ERP systems, making them easy to integrate into existing hotel and restaurant operations.

• Cost-Effective Operation: With low running costs and energy-efficient performance, they help businesses optimize operational expenses.

Because speed and efficiency are paramount in the HoReCa industry, our market-leading receipt printers have been widely adopted by restaurants, cafés, and catering businesses looking for reliable billing solutions that improve customer service and streamline operations.

Kitchen Herald: Can you share any strategies or partnerships you’ve developed to strengthen your presence in the HoReCa market?

Balasubramanian: One of our key strategic partnerships that strengthens our presence in the HoReCa market is our collaboration with Intel. This partnership allows us to integrate Intel-powered processors into our Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, enhancing their performance, reliability, and efficiency—critical factors for hotels, restaurants, and catering businesses.

How This Partnership Benefits the HoReCa Sector:

Superior Performance: Intel’s advanced processors enable faster transaction processing and seamless multi-tasking, ensuring smooth operation even during peak business hours.

Enhanced Reliability: Our POS systems are designed for high uptime and durability, reducing system failures that could disrupt hotel or restaurant operations.

Security & Stability: Intel-powered solutions provide enhanced security features, protecting sensitive business and customer data.

Future-Ready Innovation: With Intel’s technology, we continue to develop AI-driven analytics, cloud-enabled POS solutions, and contactless payment systems, addressing the evolving needs of the hospitality industry.

By leveraging Intel’s cutting-edge technology, we are committed to providing high-performance solutions that improve efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and drive digital transformation in the HoReCa sector.

Kitchen Herald: What are your expansion plans over the next 1-3 years, both in terms of geographic reach and product innovation, especially related to the HoReCa industry?

Balasubramanian:  Our expansion plans include the following things:

Geographic Expansion: We are scaling our Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) division to extend our reach across India and international markets. This includes plans to invest ₹50-75 crore to expand our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines, aiming to cater to both Indian and global customers, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Product Innovation: We are investing in next-generation POS systems – our recent launch of the ‘One Box Solution’ for retail, a cutting-edge POS system powered by Intel processors, designed to enhance efficiency and improve customer experience.

Stronger Market Penetration: Through partnerships and collaborations, we aim to establish a deeper footprint in the hospitality industry. Our collaboration with Intel exemplifies this strategy, enabling us to integrate advanced technology into our products to better serve the HoReCa market.

These initiatives reflect our commitment to expanding our geographic reach and innovating our product offerings to meet the evolving needs of the HoReCa industry.

Kitchen Herald: How do you see the evolution of the HoReCa sector influencing your product development and overall business strategy moving forward?

Balasubramanian: The HoReCa sector is rapidly evolving, driven by automation, digital transformation, and the demand for seamless customer experiences. To stay ahead, TVS Electronics is aligning its product development and business strategy to meet these shifting trends.

Key Focus Areas

      * Contactless & Digital Payment Solutions:

With the growing adoption of digital transactions, we are enhancing our POS systems and receipt printers to support UPI, NFC, and QR-based payments, ensuring faster and more convenient checkouts for HoReCa businesses.

  •  Rugged, High-Performance Hardware:

The HoReCa industry demands durable, high-speed devices that can handle continuous operation. Our Intel-powered POS terminals and high-speed receipt printers are built to support high transaction volumes with minimal downtime.

  • Sustainability & Cost Optimization:

Energy-efficient solutions and eco-friendly thermal printing are becoming key considerations for businesses looking to optimize costs while reducing their environmental footprint.

As customer expectations evolve toward greater efficiency, personalization, and digital experiences, TVS Electronics remains committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower HoReCa businesses to enhance operational efficiency, improve service quality, and drive profitability.
